Carpe Dium

Seize the day, trusting as little as possible in the next one.

Make the most of the present without concern for the future,,, past is gone, the future is not yet here,  all we have is today to act.  To take action to achieve goals and necessary tasks on our ‘to do list’ .

Always keep in mind your priorities so you are always using your precious time in pursuit of your goals

Notes On Behaviour Change

The best apology is changed behaviour.

Knowing is not enough, we must apply .

willing is not enough, we must do.

• Bruce Lee

Don’t believe everything you think.

Don’t get involved in other people’s drama.

It is the situations we put ourselves in that create most of our problems.

Think before you make important decisions, considering the many ramifications of your actions.

If you spend too much time thinking about an assignment, you’ll never meet your deadlines so make a start.  Build some momentum.

Experience is the child of thought, and thought is the child of action.

Behavioural Change:

We all make bad decisions: some bad decisions snowball or compound if not attended to.

People do not always change their behaviour even when they know they should and they know why they should.

Be aware of any discrepancy between your goals, your values, and your current behaviour to stay on the path you have chosen for your life - sobriety, healthy eating and moderate exercise while reading and writing regularly.

Ackerman (1997) describes 3 types of change;

• Developmental

• Transitional

• Transformational

Behavioural change is a dynamic and repetitive process where:

1 desire and motivation are the prerequisites to change.

2 self-reflection facilitates progress and

3 social influences sway interests and support change.

Choose actions in line with your goals.

Set priorities to make your daily decision-making easier.

Stop, focus, proceed with purpose.

BE PRESENT

Just as a snake sheds its skin, we must shed our past over and over again.”
